The State Bank of India (SBI) is recruiting for 35 Trade Finance Officer positions. The online application process began on August 29, 2026, and will close on September 19, 2026, according to the bank's official notification.

This recruitment drive is for roles within SBI's International Banking Group (IBG). It covers two distinct grades with different experience requirements and pay scales.

Vacancy and Pay Details

The vacancies are split across two management grades. The bank has specified age limits and reservation categories for each post.

GradeVacanciesAge Limit (as of July 31, 2026)Pay Scale (Rs.)
Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I)1421 to 30 years48,480 to 85,920
Middle Management Grade Scale-II (MMGS-II)2123 to 32 years64,820 to 93,960

For the JMGS-I post, the 14 vacancies include 2 for Scheduled Caste (SC), 1 for Scheduled Tribe (ST), 3 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 1 for Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and 7 for Unreserved (UR) candidates. One horizontal vacancy is reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

The 21 MMGS-II vacancies include 3 for SC, 1 for ST, 5 for OBC, 2 for EWS, and 10 for UR candidates. One horizontal vacancy is also available for PwBD candidates in this grade.

SBI has suggested Hyderabad and Kolkata as indicative posting locations. The bank states that selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India at its discretion.

Eligibility and Selection Process

All candidates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university. They must also possess a Certification in Forex Operations from the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF), dated on or before July 31, 2026.

SBI lists several preferred certifications. These include the Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialists (CDCS), Certificate for Specialists in Demand Guarantees (CSDG), Certified Trade Finance Professional (CTFP), Global Trade Certificate (GTC), and certificates in International Trade Finance from institutions like the London Institute of Banking & Finance (LIBF).

Experience requirements differ by grade. Applicants for JMGS-I need at least one year of post-qualification experience in Trade Finance processing and operations in an officer role at a scheduled commercial bank. Experience as a maker is preferred. For MMGS-II, candidates require a minimum of three years of similar experience.

The selection will be based on shortlisting followed by an interview. Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee an interview call. A shortlisting committee will decide the parameters for selection.

The interview carries 100 marks. The final merit list will be prepared in descending order based solely on interview scores. In case of a tie at the cut-off, the older candidate will be ranked higher. Interview call letters will be sent via email or uploaded to SBI's website; no hard copies will be dispatched.

Job Role and Application Procedure

The roles involve handling Trade Finance transactions. JMGS-I officers will work primarily as makers, entering transaction data, uploading documents, and performing preliminary checks. MMGS-II officers will act as checkers, verifying details, conducting sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) screening, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Both positions will involve shift work. The notified shifts currently range from 6 am to 3 pm, 9 am to 6 pm, 1:30 pm to 10:30 pm, and 9 pm to 6 am. SBI notes that shift timings may change according to its requirements.

Selected officers will undergo a six-month probation period. They will be eligible for benefits including dearness allowance, house rent allowance, provident fund, and medical facilities as per bank rules.

Candidates must apply online via the SBI careers website under advertisement number CRPD/SCO/2026-27/15. Required documents for upload include a photograph, signature, resume, educational and experience certificates, the IIBF Forex Operations certificate, and relevant caste or PwBD certificates where applicable.

SBI advises applicants not to wait until the September 19 deadline, citing potential website traffic or technical issues. The bank warns candidates to rely only on its official career portal and to be wary of external platforms or individuals claiming to offer guaranteed selection.
